Sahyadri Ranga Taranga, a theatre group that has been active for the past 40 years in Shivamogga, will stage noted playwright Girish Karnad’s Tughlaq at Kuvempu Ranga Mandira in Shivamogga on Monday at 6.30 p.m.

Kantesh Kadaramandalagi, honorary president of the theatre group, told reporters on Friday that the group had chosen Tughlaq, Girish Karnad’s acclaimed Kannada play, which has been staged in several languages, because its theme remains relevant for all times. Through the complex personality of Tughlaq, the play explores human emotions and the intricacies of politics.

R.S. Halaswamy, who directed Gandhi Vs Godse, Kudure Motte, Kanyadana, Edeya Hanathe among other plays, has directed Tughlaq. H.S. Nagabhushan, a retired professor of English, is playing the role of Tughlaq. Sripad Tirthahalli has composed music for the play. The team has appealed to the theatre-lovers of Shivamogga to watch the play.
