Telangana Rakshana Sena (TRS) chief Kalvakuntla Kavitha alleged that government apathy was resulting in the loss of nearly 4,000 children every year in Telangana, and her party would visit all the government hospitals to expose the ‘deficiencies’.
At a press conference here on Sunday, she cited figures of 6,000 infant deaths in 2020-21, 4,933 in 2022-23 and 3,853 in 2024-25. She also claimed that 1,046 infants had died in Hyderabad last year.
Referring to the recent incident at RIMS, Adilabad, she criticised the Health Minister’s conduct during his recent visit to Adilabad, alleging that he was more concerned about his helicopter running out of fuel than with the condition of the hospital.
Ms. Kavitha also criticised the government over healthcare spending. She claimed that, against an allocation of ₹13,192 crore in the previous year, only ₹9,242 crore was spent. She alleged that seven of 11 health schemes had received no budgetary allocation and that ₹500 crore in Aarogyasri dues remained pending.
