Pawan Kalyan directs Forest Department to maintain round-the-clock vigilance and urges pilgrims to follow safety measures after leopard sighting near the 2,800th step

Following a leopard sighting near the 2,800th step on the Alipiri–Tirumala footpath, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has directed the Forest Department to maintain round-the-clock vigilance in the area.

In a post on X on Tuesday, Mr. Pawan Kalyan said around 20-member HANUMAN (Healing And Nurturing Units for Monitoring, Aid & Nursing of Wildlife) teams, along with Forest Department officials, veterinarians and doctors, were continuously monitoring the area and taking measures to guide the leopard back into the forest.

Pilgrims have been advised to remain on the designated pathway, follow the instructions issued by the authorities, and avoid approaching or chasing the animal. They have also been asked to immediately inform the Forest Department or Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) personnel in case of a leopard sighting.

Telangana to hold special DOST spot admissions on Sept. 24-25, 28-29

The Telangana Council of Higher Education and Commissioner of Collegiate Education will conduct a one-time special spot admission under the Degree Online Services Telangana (DOST) for the 2026-27 academic year. As per the schedule announced on Tuesday, details of vacancies on the college notice boards will be displayed on September 23. The same can be checked on https://dost.cgg.gov.in/ Spot admissions in all government degree colleges, university colleges, private aided colleges (regular courses), and private aided autonomous colleges (regular courses) will be held on September 24 and 25. The following day, the various institutions will upload the data of all admitted students on DOST portal. On September 28 and 29, the one-time special spot admissions round for all categories of institutions will be held, to fill up the remaining seats and priority will be given to local candidates, after which seats for non-local candidates will be open.

Name Mamnoor airport after 1857 hero Moulvi Syed Alauddin, says Asaduddin Owaisi

Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi sought the naming of the proposed Mamnoor Airport in Warangal after freedom fighter from Hyderabad State, Moulvi Syed Alauddin. In a letter to Chief Minister A. Revanth, Mr. Owaisi said the airport, which was built in the 1930s during the reign of the Nizam of Hyderabad, was now being revived and developed to strengthen air connectivity to the region. He said the airport was constructed to facilitate the paper industry and industries such as Azam Jahi Mills in Warangal. While on the one hand Mr Owaisi welcomed Mr Reddy inviting suggestions for a suitable name for the airport, he proposed Moulvi Syed Alauddin Airport, honouring of the freedom fighter who was associated with Hyderabad’s resistance to British rule during the First War of Independence in 1857. The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen chief stated that Moulvi Syed Alauddin, along with Turrebaz Khan, led the resistance against the British Residency in Hyderabad in July 1857. Moulvi Syed Alauddin was subsequently captured and imprisoned in the Cellular Jail, he said. “His contribution represents an important chapter in the history of Hyderabad and the freedom struggle in south India,” Mr Owaisi said, adding that naming the airport after him would be a tribute to his courage and sacrifice and help ensure that the legacy of the “largely unsung freedom fighter” was remembered by future generations.
