Minister for Medical Education and Yadgir District In-charge Sharan Prakash Patil on Sunday (November 1, 2026) lauded the sacrifices of stalwarts whose efforts brought Kannada-speaking regions together under a single state.
Speaking after unfurling the national flag at the District Sports Ground to mark Kannada Rajyotsava in Yadgir on Sunday (November 1, 2026), Dr. Patil recalled that the erstwhile Mysore State was formed on November 1, 1956, based on the recommendations of the Fazal Ali Commission following widespread linguistic unification movements. He noted that it was under former Chief Minister D. Devaraj Urs that the state was renamed Karnataka on November 1, 1973.
”We must honor and praise all the stalwarts who contributed immensely to the unification of Karnataka,” the Minister said.
Highlighting the State Government’s welfare programs, Dr. Patil asserted that the five major guarantee schemes have been effectively implemented to reach eligible beneficiaries.
Gruha Jyothi scheme: Around 2.22 lakh beneficiaries have registered under the initiative in the district, with an allocation of ₹108.23 crore for the financial year 2025–26 to ensure subsidised electricity for households.
The other guarantee schemes like Shakthi, Gruha Lakshmi, Yuva Nidhi and Anna Bhagya are actively operating across the district.
Health infrastructure boost: Detailing upcoming healthcare projects under the Medical Education Department, the Minister announced that a ₹100 crore super speciality hospital will be set up in Yadgir.
Construction of new Primary Health Centres (PHCs), establishment of a new Nursing College, setting up a Rehabilitation Centre for persons with disabilities, upgradation of the Shahapur Taluk Hospital alongside several Community Health Centres (CHCs) are the key projects which are coming up shortly.
Person-days target under VB-G RAM G: On rural development initiatives, Dr. Patil stated that the district aims to generate 47 lakh person-days of work under rural employment guarantee schemes for 2026–27. Between April and June, 5.46 lakh person-days were created, with a target of completing 5.07 lakh person-days by late October.
Under the Swachh Bharat Mission’s effort to address open defecation, the administration has targeted the construction of 3,300 household toilets for 2026–27. A total of 1,119 toilets have been built so far, with the Minister assuring that the remaining work will be completed shortly.
