The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) will operate more than 3,000 additional buses from Bengaluru to various destinations within Karnataka and neighbouring States from October 16 to 20 to meet the increased travel demand during the Mysuru Dasara festival and holiday period.
According to a KSRTC press release, the special services would operate in addition to its existing Karnataka Sarige, Rajahamsa, Sleeper, Airavat, Airavat Club Class, Ambari Dream Class, Pallakki Sleeper and Ashwamedha services.
The additional buses would depart from the Kempegowda Bus Station, Mysuru Road Bus Station and the BMTC bus station in Shantinagar. Services would also operate from other locations in Bengaluru, including Vijayanagar, Yeshwanthpur, Jayanagar, Basaveshwaranagar, Domlur and Banashankari.
Special services would connect Bengaluru with destinations such as Madikeri, Mangaluru, Udupi, Shivamogga, Hubballi, Belagavi, Ballari and Kalaburagi. Inter-State services would operate to destinations including Hyderabad, Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Ooty, Ernakulam and Pune. Return services to Bengaluru would operate from various destinations on October 20 and 21.
The KSRTC would also operate 700 special buses exclusively for the Mysuru Dasara. Of these, 300 buses would run between Bengaluru and Mysuru, while 400 buses would connect Mysuru with nearby tourist and pilgrimage destinations, including Chamundi Hills, KRS Dam, Brindavan Gardens, Srirangapatna, Nanjangud, Madikeri, Mandya and Chamarajanagar.
According to the KSRTC release, it would introduce special one-day package tours from Mysuru, Mangaluru and Madikeri to facilitate sightseeing during the festive period.
In Madikeri, the packages include Kaveri Darshan, covering Omkareshwara Temple, Iguthappa Temple, Bhagamandala, Talacauvery, Abbey Falls and Raja’s Seat, and Kodagina Sobagu, covering destinations such as Harangi Reservoir, the Golden Temple at Bylakuppe, Kaveri Nisargadhama, a coffee plantation, Abbey Falls and Raja’s Seat.
Both Madikeri packages would operate from October 11 to 26, with fares of ₹400 for adults and ₹300 for children. “Passengers can book tickets through the official KSRTC website, www.ksrtc.karnataka.gov.in, or its mobile booking facility. A 5% discount is available when four or more passengers book together on a single ticket, while a 10% discount is offered on return tickets booked along with onward journey tickets,” the release added.
