Students of Dr. RVR NRI Institute of Technology (Deemed to be University) have emerged as global winners of the WISER Vanguard Global Challenge, an international competition focused on innovation in quantum technology.
The NRI University team won the competition with THRINETRA – Quantum Workforce Optimisation, a project exploring the use of quantum technology to optimise workforce management.
According to a statement issued by the institution on Friday, the competition attracted around 65,000 participants from 33 countries, with 219 teams shortlisted for the global challenge. The NRI University team secured the top position in the international competition.
The achievement is part of the Amaravati Quantum Valley Initiative, under which the Washington Institute for STEM, Entrepreneurship and Research (WISER) is working to train 50,000 students across Andhra Pradesh in quantum technology.
As part of the initiative, 200 students of NRI University received training in quantum technology. Following the training, one team from the university was selected among the top 10 teams to participate in the WISER Vanguard Global Challenge. The team subsequently emerged as the overall winner, the statement said.
The winning team comprised G. Tejaswi Venkata Aparna, Shaik Muntaz and R. Madhusudhana Rao, all students of the Data Science Department.
NRI University Chancellor R. Venkat Rao and Vice-Chancellor K.R.S. Sambasiva Rao congratulated the students on their achievement and their contribution to innovation, research and technology.
