German endurance runner Alicia Bayer with women runners at KBR Park, in Hyderabad.

More than 100 runners joined German endurance runner Alicia Bayer for a 5-km community run at KBR Park, promoting gender equality, women’s empowerment and inclusivity in sport.

‘Run for Her’ initiative is a mixed-gender initiative that encourages men and women to stand together for equality, challenge stereotypes and make public spaces more welcoming for women.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Alicia said she is very happy to see the good turnout of runners early in the morning.

Participants highlighted the need for more women’s running groups and opportunities for women to run with confidence and feel a sense of belonging.

Ms. Alicia uses endurance challenges to raise awareness of social causes. In 2026, she ran approximately 640 km from Mumbai to Goa to promote women’s empowerment and girls’ education. Her other challenges in Nepal supported awareness of human trafficking and menstrual health.

The event in Hyderabad also highlighted HERD, Ms. Alicia’s women-only running community, which offers women a space to find running partners, exchange experiences and build confidence.

Already active in Delhi, Singapore and Hyderabad, HERD plans to expand to Bengaluru, Mysuru, Goa and Mumbai, with a long-term vision of connecting women runners worldwide.
