Motorists in Hyderabad faced a taste of the disruption ahead as work on the steel flyover linking Jubilee Hills Check Post and Nagarjuna Circle began on Friday, narrowing the carriageway towards KBR Park and causing traffic congestion by afternoon.
Hyderabad Traffic Police issued a traffic advisory for the stretch between NFCL and KBR Park Entrance Junction (Gate-I), covering Jubilee Hills Check Post. Diversions will be enforced only when necessary, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) D. Joel Davis said.
Motorists travelling from NFCL towards Srinagar Colony T Junction, Sagar Society (Mugdha), KBR Park Entrance, Jubilee Hills Check Post, Road Nos. 36 and 45, and Durgam Cheruvu Cable Bridge are advised to take Road No. 1 in Banjara Hills. At 1/10 Junction near City Centre Mall, they should turn right onto Road No. 10 and proceed via Zaheera Nagar, Basavatarakam Cancer Hospital and Agrasen Island towards Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and Road No. 45 Junction to reach Jubilee Hills Check Post.
Those travelling from Road Nos. 36 and 45 in Jubilee Hills towards NFCL and Panjagutta should go straight from Jubilee Hills Check Post via Venkatagiri, Road No. 2, Yousufguda Basti, Yousufguda Check Post, Maitrivanam, Ameerpet and Indiranagar Labour Adda, before taking Srinagar Colony Road towards Panjagutta Main Road.
Commuters from Masab Tank heading towards Srinagar Colony, Kamalapuri Colony, Indira Nagar, Krishna Nagar and Yousufguda can turn left at 1/12 Junction near Virinchi Hospital. They should take Road No. 12 and proceed via the TGICCC Building and Agrasen Island towards Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Road No. 45 Junction and Jubilee Hills Check Post, before continuing through Venkatagiri and Road No. 2 in Jubilee Hills.
Traffic police have advised commuters to avoid the affected stretches, if possible, between 8.30 a.m. and 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. Heavy vehicles should also stay off these roads during peak hours.
Motorists have been asked to follow traffic personnel’s instructions and road signs, check navigation apps for real-time updates and consider public transport or carpooling to ease congestion. For emergency travel assistance, commuters can call the Hyderabad Traffic Police helpline at 90102-03626. Updates will also be posted on the police’s Facebook page and X handle, @HYDTP.
