In the aftermath of the brutal attack on Class X student M Gopika in full view of the class students of Zilla Parishad High School at Raptadu, a special team of 20 mental health counselors has been constituted to support the students who were left emotionally distressed by the incident.

Minister for Education and IT Nara Lokesh has taken proactive steps to alleviate the fear and anxiety among students and restore their mental strength. As part of this, the special team of counselors are personally visiting the homes of the 32 students from the Class 10 ‘A’ section — where the incident occurred — to speak with both the students and their parents.

Further, plans are in place to visit the homes of all female students in classes 8, 9, and 10 to provide necessary counseling. The counselors are working to help the students overcome their fear and anxiety, enabling them to return to school with renewed self-confidence.

The Education Department has made arrangements to ensure ongoing support, allowing students to focus on their studies without any sense of fear.

It may be recalled that a youngster attacked Gopika with a chainsaw resulting in serious injuries to the latter and also another girl student of the class.
