Telangana government will guide industries, particularly micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and exporters to understand and make the most of opportunities created by the free trade agreements (FTAs) India has concluded with various countries, said IT and Industries Minister D.Sridhar Babu here on Monday.
“Our objective is that ‘Made in Telangana’ products reach all countries with which India has entered into FTAs,” the Minister told a mega FTA outreach programme Union Commerce Ministry organised here jointly with the State government.
Mr.Sridhar Babu also called upon the Centre to extend necessary guidance and institutional support to State governments and industries to help them fully utilise the opportunities and benefits available under various FTAs. Exports have a crucial role in achieving India’s long-term economic ambitions, he said.
On its part, Telangana government planned to integrate local industries with global supply chains and develop every district into an economic growth centre. It is working to identify district-specific products and promote their manufacturing, processing and exports. This would strengthen local industrial ecosystems and create new avenues for economic growth and employment in every district, the Minister’s office said in a release.
He also stressed the need to identify surplus agricultural produce, after meeting domestic requirements, and channel it towards export markets, instead of allowing the produce to perish.
