The Railway police registered a case against four soldiers for allegedly harassing a young woman aboard the Thiruvananthapuram Central-Rajdhani Express.
The accused are K. Mithun and Pratheesh Kumar M., both from Kannur, and C.M. Hansilem Boney of Mukkam, Kozhikode, all working for the Territorial Army, Kozhikode, while the fourth accused is J. Vishnu of Kallambalam, Thiruvananthapuram, who works in the Army and is posted in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to the complaint, the incident occurred in the B-8 coach of the train when it reached Platform No. 3 at the Kannur railway station around 5.20 p.m on Monday (September 28). The soldiers were reportedly travelling home on leave.
The woman alleged that the soldiers harassed her while the train was passing through Udupi. She informed the railway authorities through the travelling ticket examiner, following which the latter alerted the Railway police when the train reached Kannur.
The Kannur Railway police subsequently registered a case against the four under Section 119(1)(a) of the Kerala Police Act, 2011.
